Educational Psychology professional entry training
Educational Psychology is an applied psychology profession. Educational Psychologists work in the field of education with children and young people who have a range of educational and psychological needs. Educational Psychologists work with individual children, other professionals and whole schools.

Educational Psychology professional entry training is now a three year full time doctorate qualification.
Year 1: full time study

Common routes into Educational Psychology
Educational Psychologists come from a range of backgrounds, however, common routes into the professional doctorate include:
- teaching
- assistant or graduate (educational) psychologist
- classroom assistant
- learning mentor
- SEN co-ordinator
Entry criteria
Applicants must:
- Have a 2.1 or above in a British Psychological Society accredited psychology degree or conversion course
- Be eligible for Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society
- Have at least one year's full time experience with children and young people in a relevant capacity
- Be ordinarily resident in the UK and eligible to work in the UK for the duration of the course and a minimum of two years following graduation
Application process
The application process for funded places takes place annually via the CWDC website. Applications are submitted in the autumn of the year prior to commencing the course. Interviews take place in the spring following application. This is a closed process, late applications are not considered and there is no clearing system.

Funding
The CWDC administers funding for training. Successful applicants receive fees in all three years (excluding top up fees). Successful applicants receive a bursary in year 1. In Years 2 and 3 trainees receive either a bursary or a wage depending on the arrangement in the region.
