Closing Date Extended to 14 September 2008 Soulbury Trainee Educational Psychologist Scale 1-6 Two Year Fixed Term Contract Applications are invited from Educational Psychologists in Training to join a small team in a progressive Unitary Authority where there are a wide range of opportunities for professional development and work across a range of areas. The EPS is a highly regarded service that is at the centre of the Children's Service committed to supporting inclusion, school improvement and meeting the aims of Every Child Matters. Thurrock is a Borough where there is significant renewal and development taking place as part of the Thames Gateway Development. The locality combines urban and rural settings with an increasingly diverse population. We offer an opportunity to work in a professional environment, which benefits from close and collaborative working relationships across a variety of services as part of the overall Children's service. There is a friendly, positive approach to the work and close contact with Senior Officers so that staff can have a direct impact on service development and children's lives. We are seeking two psychologists in training to join our team and the posts will involve direct service delivery to schools and other settings under the guidance and supervision of a senior psychologist. We have had strong relationships with training providers of Educational Psychology over a long period of time and have successfully supported a number of trainees on the previous MSc programmes and on the Doctorate programme. We currently have an employed trainee continuing successfully onto the third year of the Doctorate. The service is increasingly working in an integrated manner with clusters of schools to offer a consultation service including support for individual children and their families and carers. The Educational Psychology Service is located centrally. Thurrock is committed to the delivery of high quality services for children and their families and this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team. A Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure at Enhanced level will be required for this post. |

We are looking for a creative and energetic Trainee Educational Psychologist to join the Educational Psychology Service in Durham. You would be joining a team that provides a wide range of interventions for schools within a vibrant Children's Services Authority, and gain valuable experience of a range of school based work, including providing service to a patch of schools. You will need a first degree in Psychology and to have completed the first year of an accredited doctoral programme. The two year contract is based on the successful applicant continuing with their second and third year on a doctoral programme and meeting the requirement for placement in a local authority Educational Psychology Service. The contract is for two years. There is no guarantee of employment following the end of the two year period. |

Permanent appointment to the service is dependent on satisfactory completion of doctoral training. Suffolk Education Psychology Service is valued for its work in a wide range of contexts, including School Improvement, project work, Early Years, Hearing Impairment, Portage and the development of multi-agency approaches. Current priorities within the service include the development of EP practice in multi-agency work, solution oriented psychology, emotional literacy and personal construct psychology.
