Summary

This 8th annual national conference organised by Neil Stewarts will bring together representatives from local and central government, LCSBs, police, education and child protection organisations to discuss the latest policy and guidance, share good practice and encourage effective multi-disciplinary working. Safeguarding professionals face extreme scrutiny and work in a rapidly changing environment, it is therefore essential to keep up to date with the latest national initiatives.

  • Hear from the head of the new National Safeguarding Delivery Unit about their latest initiatives and response to the Laming Progress Report
  • Understand lessons that can be learnt from the latest serious case reviews
  • Consider your responsibilities and duties relating to the imminent implementation of the Vetting and Barring Scheme
  • Hear and participate in an interactive panel discussion focusing on effective multi-agency working featuring speakers from the police, health, voluntary sector, a local authority and safeguarding children board
  • Learn how you can deliver integrated front-line services through the CAF process and Lead Professional
  • Consider the perspective from children in care and living away from home, delivered by the Children's Rights Director for England
  • Ofsted examine improving the inspection process and discuss how this relates to safeguarding
  • Take part in two practical workshops which are designed to allow you to interact with both speakers and other participants, topics to choose from include:

    -Safeguarding children across culture and faith
    -Identifying and safeguarding victims of child trafficking
    -Safeguarding children abused through domestic violence
