The Department for Education (DfE) have agreed that they will maintain the strategic lead for foster care work when CWDC closes in April 2012. This includes the (TSD) Standards for foster carers. All foster carers continue to be required to complete the TSD Standards within 12 months of approval (or 18 months for family and friends foster carers). Find out more
Being a foster carer is a unique and multi-faceted role. You may not even consider it as being an actual role or indeed as having a career, but what you do on a day to day basis as part of caring for the children you have, easily makes up for being a full time job in itself.
It is one of the few roles which can be seen as a career based in your own home. It involves you working closely with other professionals in social services, education, health care services and sometimes the Police and legal system.
