Lead professional

The lead professional is a key element of integrated support.

Lead professionals work with children and young people with additional (including complex) needs who require an integrated package of support from more than one practitioner.

The lead professional is a key element of integrated support. They take the lead to coordinate provision and act as a single point of contact for a child and their family when a range of services are involved and an integrated response is required.

This way all children and young people who require integrated support from more than one practitioner should experience a seamless and effective service.

We have worked with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to produce tools, advice and guidance to promote the lead professional role. All information including toolkits, guidance, fact sheets and training packages for integrated working are located in the lead professional area of the Every Child Matters website.
