CWDC is pleased to announce the launch of a 10 week online consultation as part of the review of the Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) standards.

This is an opportunity for early years practitioners and stakeholders to have their views taken into account. The new Standards will be implemented by training providers delivering the EYPS programme from September 2012.   

This consultation follows a call for evidence with training providers and early years professionals (EYPs) to gather initial feedback on the current Standards. Findings were analysed and a revised set of Standards developed, following discussions with an external reference group.

Judith Thompson, Assistant Director of Early Years, at CWDC said: "The main aims of the review are to streamline the Standards where possible, link them to other professional standards, test how the Standards can support the concept of teaching in early years and help to spread leadership practice.

We encourage all early years practitioners and stakeholders to take part in this consultation opportunity and we look forward to hearing their views."

3. An external reference group has been established to provide expertise from both practice and academic perspective. The main role of this group is to provide feedback on the draft standards and advise on key issues that arise during the review process.

4. Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) is the only professional graduate accreditation for the early years workforce, endorsed by Government and increasingly recognised as the credential for leading practice in early years provision. Launched in 2007, there are now more than 8,500 qualified EYPs across England, making a real difference to the lives of children every day, and more than 1,500 in training. 5.
