The Skills for Business Network (SfBN)
The Skills for Business Network is made up of the 25 Sector Skills Councils (SSCs).
The SSCs help employers to take strategic action to meet their sector's skills and business needs. As a result, they receive substantial public investment and more powerful dialogue with government departments across the UK.
Until 1 April 2008, the Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) provided central support for the Network - this role will be taken forward by the new Alliance of Sector Skills Councils, part of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES). Formed on 1 April 2008, the Commission's establishment was a key recommendation in Lord Leitch's 2006 review of skills.
