What does participation mean for us?

For CWDC, participation means ensuring the structures, resources and processes are in place so we and our workforce can take action, make changes and be steered by what children, young people and their families tell us.

CWDC has adopted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in its entirety. Article 12 of the UNCRC says that all children and young people have the right to say what they think should happen when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have those opinions taken into account.

The decisions and plans made about the development and reform of the children's workforce impact on the lives of children and young people.

Participation within CWDC

CWDC's mission includes making sure the child is at the centre of all services.

We want this to be true of our own company, therefore we have created and published a participation strategy.

For more information see our Participation at CWDC pages.

Participation in workforce development

In 2007/2008, CWDC launched the Participation Fund  to support creative and innovative ways of involving children and young people in all parts of workforce development - selection and recruitment, induction, training and appraisal.
