Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People's Workforce

Learn more about our new level 3 diploma

We are developing a new Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's workforce, to launch in September 2010.

The Diploma has been developed to work towards our ambition of creating a respected, children and young people's workforce who make a positive difference to children, young people and their families.

We are also working to meet the ambition of the 2020 Children and Young Peoples Workforce Strategy to aspire to a minimum level 3 and graduate led workforce.

The Children's Plan set out an aspiration that the children and young people's workforce should be graduate-led and qualified to Level 3, where appropriate. (2020 Children and Young People Workforce Strategy, page 35).

We are aiming to make the Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People the only Level 3 diploma for the workforce in England.

However please note that we are talking about the "new world" of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and all existing full Level 3 qualifications are still valid and will be considered equitable to the Level 3 diploma.  It is not the case that all current Level 3 practitioners have to do a brand new qualification.

You can access further details of the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce to explore how the qualification is constructed and what the timelines are.
