Travellers, Irish Travellers, Gypsies, Roma and Showpeople

This work examined how to address issues relating to children and young people from gypsy or traveller communities.

The work, was carried out by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), and followed research that showed people from these backgrounds can experience social exclusion, additional risks and deprivations.

The project included an analysis of available academic and non-academic work in this area, as well as detailed case studies to explore specific issues in more detail. The results will help identify the main issues that need to be addressed and ways in which we can help professionals offer support to children and young people in this area. In this way the project will also contribute to the CWDC's ability to support and develop the children's workforce.
