The sector learning strategy (SLS) is an overarching UK wide strategy which seeks to make accurate responses to sector specific needs and requirements.
The SLS is being developed by CWDC as an outcome from CWDC's sector skills agreement (SSA). It is a planning tool for the development of future qualifications to meet the needs of the occupational groups supported by CWDC. We call this list of worker types our footprint.
The SLS action plan will be developed during the first half of 2008 and will set out the qualifications and learning plans for these occupations.
Specific aims:
- Identify key drivers for sector development in relation to qualifications and other learning provision;
- Evaluate how well existing qualifications and other learning provision meets sector needs
(current and future); - Make proposals for any changes required, including a plan for development and implementation;
- Bring coherence and shared direction to ongoing development work;
- Provide a sound basis for future development and decision-making in each broad sector;
- Ensure sector proposals are communicated to, and supported by, key stakeholders
