Understanding the children's social care workforce research
In 2009, CWDC commissioned Action for Children and the University of Salford to undertake research to clarify the nature of the children's social care workforce and find out:
- What the core skills and knowledge in social care should be.
- How graduates are currently being used.
- What graduates might be able to do in children's social care in the future.
The research involved an online questionnaire and a series of four regional research events were held in January 2010 with stakeholders in the social care field. The research asked questions around the location, role, qualifications and training of graduates, and what the plan should be for the future deployment of graduates.
The collection phase of the research is now complete and the data is currently being analysed. An executive summary and accompanying full report will be available on our website in August 2010.
