Voluntary and community sector capacity building
One of the key strands for supporting the young people's workforce was the delivery of over 27,000 training places to workers in the voluntary and community sector
Progress was the name of a voluntary sector partnership project being delivered on behalf of CWDC’s Young People’s Workforce Reform Programme. It was based on five key principles:
1 Owned and led by the voluntary and community sector to ensure participation
2. Integrated across regional and national training providers
3. Flexible for both learner and organisation
4. Based on a shared understanding of quality and outcomes
5. Builds on existing infastructure to ensure sustainability
The project is building the capacity of the voluntary and community sector by
- delivering over 27,000 accredited training places for volunteers and paid staff, due to the high demand for the training
- Providing bursaries to 30 voluntary sector organisations to help them
become accredited training providers for their staff and volunteers.
Bursaries were awarded in December 2010. -
Supporting 360 individual trainers, with best practice learning resources and further opportunities to gain new skills, experience and qualifications.
“Progress has given our centre a real boost. We’ve been able to do training that wouldn’t have been possible before."
